1960 75HP Johnson Super Seahorse Engines & 5.5HP Kickers

ENGINES Johnson V4 75's came in two major revisions. I have the fully mechanical shifting engines. The electrical shifting engines were a nightmare, once water seeped into the lower unit, the shifting would cease abruptly and cost a lot to fix. My fully mechanical shifting engines have a magneto distribution system not a modern distributor, and the amount of wiring inside the cowl area is limited to just 1x ground, 1x positive, and 4x lines to the spark. Everything else is mechanical. Prime the bulb to carbs, and they light right up and idle perfect. There is a resurgence to these 1960's engines happening in the marine world, and these three Johnson outboard 5.5HP kickers and four Jonson VSL4 V4-75's must go.

HORSEPOWER was rated differently back in the 1960's and I think they had it right. Outboards used to be rated for horsepower at the crank, like these excellent V4 75's, and now they are rated at the prop shaft, so you will technically have more HP with a newer motor rated at the same HP as the older beauties. I'd bet that most 200's with all the electrical nightmares and thousands of cables and harnessing don't get above 100HP at best if rated true like they used to, and these V4SL-75 beauties are right up there still. I had twin black max Merc's on one of my other boats, which I sold, and these actually plane 2x faster then the Merc's did, same boat same final speed, same weight, etc.

PROPELLER's with varying pitch with seven sets of OMC props. First set gets you out real quick as PJ78 pair with 9 1/2 diam x 10". The second set are PJ75's that are 10 1/2 diam 11" that get up slower but cruise at lower RPMs. The third set are PJ76's and are in between. All are original OMC props (not the michigan prop aftermarkets). Also have several more sets for these 1960 to 1968 engines that are used, and have spun hubs, and will need refurbishment. Have an extra set of parts and two more complete Johnson V4 75 mechanical shifting engines to go with this incredible rig (all fully working and 100% compression with full lower unit rebuilt as well on 6/28/2017).

Included are two working junction boxes and complete harnessing for the 75 HP engines, two Seamaster dual engine throttle controls, all harnessing and wiring, but no gauges. Several props are also included with varying pitch. In addition a new lower unit and extension unit to long shaft are included as well. A few more items and parts are also included in sale.

Looking to sell to a collector interested in such vintage engines. I will guarantee crated shipping $750 to AZ/SoCal/UT, then $1750 anywhere else west of the Mississippi, then $2750 east of the Mississippi. I am asking $5000 for the lot of seven engines, and then add shipping. Total shipping weight is 1,110 lbs.

I am placing four 1960 Johnson Super Sea Horse V4SL 75 HP engines on the market (with crates for shipping fabricated). I am also placing three 1960 Johnson Seahorse 5.5 HP outboards in crates for sale as well. All engines start and have been in use and are in good to excellent condition.
